The Export Shapefile Attributes form exports the attributes table from a shapefile into Excel and opens the workbook. If there is an active join (see Join FVS Outputs for more information about joining FVS outputs to a stand shapefile) these values can also be output. This is useful for further analysis outside of ArcMap. The form eliminates the need to export the attributes as another file type, then import the data into Excel, or the need to copy and paste the information from the attributes table.
The Feature Layer is the shapefile you want to export the attributes for.
The Spreadsheet path and file name must be entered. The default path is the output folder specified when setting up a project in the Project Settings form.
In this exercise the attributes of the Mt. Emily stands shapefile, including the FVS join if still applied (see Exercise 16), will be exported into an Excel workbook.
Click the Tools button on the ArcFuels10 toolbar then select Export Shapefile Attributes from the drop-down list.
Fill out the Export Shapefile Attributes form following the figure below.
Excel spreadsheet output of Mt. Emily stands attributes with the 2005 no treatment FFE-FVS FVS_Compute outputs joined. This is one way to compare the FFE-FVS estimates of fuel model and canopy characteristics (columns AG-AK) to those from LANDFIRE (columns P-T) .
