The RMRS Fire, Fuel, and Smoke science program is currently hosting the NOAA-led Fire Influence on Regional and Global Environments Experiment (FIREX). FIREX is a multi-year campaign to understand the atmospheric impacts of fire, including wildfire, agricultural fires, woodstoves and more with a focus on air quality and climate impacts. The research team represents multiple partners from private companies, universities, the Environmental Protection Agency, NASA, and NOAA. The project kicked off on October 1 with intensive laboratory work at the Missoula Fire Lab that will continue through November 15. You can find out more about this project here.
