FFS Research Ecologist Rachel Loehman, Missoula, has accepted a Research Landscape Ecologist position with the USGS in Anchorage, Alaska, starting mid-October 2014. Rachel worked on a variety of research projects while with RMRS including spatial ecosystem modeling, fire and carbon dynamics, climate change and disturbance interactions, landscape ecology, and fire effects on archaeological relics. Her background is as diverse as her research with extensive experience in archaeology, ecosystem modeling, systems ecology, climate change, ecophysiology, and now wildland fire science. Rachel will continue to work with RMRS and the FFS program as a collaborator on various project.
