Rear Admiral Roy Kitchener, USN, visited the Missoula Fire Sciences Lab on April 11 as part of his tour through Montana. Rear Admiral Kitchener and two aides met with local leaders and the public to highlight ways the Navy serves the people of Montana. He also met with FFS Program Manager Colin Hardy and Deputy Program Manager Thomas Dzomba. Colin and Thomas discussed the history of the Fire Lab and the Fire, Fuel, and Smoke (FFS) science program and took the opportunity to talk with the Admiral about RMRS research activities in collaboration with the Department of Defense (DoD), including work funded by the DoD Strategic Environmental Research and Development Program. While at the Lab, the Admiral viewed a burning demonstration and met several military veterans on the FFS staff.
